An Experience of C.S.F leakage in complication of radiation Ulcer

Abstract
Since the discovery of x-ray by Roentgen in 1895, radiation application in medical fields has been used with great benefits in many conditions.
However, ill effects from the use of radiation on human tissue were soon also reported. The patient of this case of radiation ulcer on his lower back, the treatment of choice is excision and repair of the area. The excision of the devitalized ulcerated area of the lower back prior to transposition of healthy tissue was extend to well vascularized surrounding tissues.
The bipedicled flap for the repair of the defect of the back was partially necrotic and infected, resulting destruction of the surrounding tissues, such as, spinal dura and paravertebra muscle fascia.
Various methods were used to control the C.S.F. leakage from the spinal dura on the previously excised radiation ulcer area of the lower back.
Granulation tissues of paravertebra muscles and spinal dura showed an important role to attach the bipedicle flap to denuded bed to stop leakage.
